Think Before You Send
September 14, 2009
I saw an article about an employee who was fired for sending rude email messages and thought you might enjoy reading about it.

Lately I’ve been seeing lots of resumes coming in from college students. The time and attention each of you has spent on your resumes and cover letters is impressive! Thanks for using spell check, proofreading, making your font readable, and customizing your cover letter to explain why you want to work for us. Sometimes your letter and resume are your first impression, and many of you are starting off with strong ones.
Occasionally, someone will deliver a flawless resume and cover letter with an email message that has obviously been rushed, not reviewed, and not well thought out. It’s possible that someone may not even open your resume if your email doesn’t impress them. So, be sure to spend as much time and attention polishing your email as you do your resume.
UW ACCTG 505 Class
August 3, 2009
On July 23 we visited the ACCTG 505 class at the University of Washington. Guy, one of our Associates who just completed his first year, came along with me, and we met a great group of students who are wrapping up their Accounting Certificate program. These students are unique in that they already have undergraduate degrees and work experience, and are now adding Accounting skills to their plate. They had some good questions about the culture in public accounting firms, starting salaries, and the recruitment process.
We look forward to seeing resumes from the UW students during our Fall Recruiting season!
